Compare these pictures &
text with a
piece of paper, below,
Kotex probably put in its napkin
boxes,
probably in the 1920s (this is
just an excerpt; see the COMPLETE
VERSIONS, front & back,
of two different sheets).
Note the word bandage,
which betrays the origin of
Kotex.
Women often used Bird's Eye
cloth - diaper cloth - to
make washable menstrual pads. You
can buy it today.
Disposing
of Kotex pads also
appears in an American
booklet (1928) and one in Spanish.
Fat chance most women carried
scissors with them and carefully
dismembered the bloody
things, then flushed them away.
Read an early nightmarish
account of what could
happen.
