Modess menstrual pads True or False?
ad (January 1947)
Both Kotex and Modess sanitary napkins ran
ads using drawings and giving advice to teenagers from the 1940s through
the 1960s. Sometimes the companies clashed, as
rivals would for the teenage market, because the winner often got a woman's
business for life.
Note the teenage language, something Kotex reveled
in. Modess showed more restraint - and eventually pulled almost completely
out of the pad market, whether because of that or not.
The slang "bright" also appears
here.
