See two letters to MUM about the ingredients
of her Compound, and one about the lyrics of an English

The Lydia E. Pinkham Medicine Co., maker of medicine for headaches,
constipation, insomnia, depression, cancer, tumors, women's diseases,
flatulence, menstruation, fertility, etc., U.S.A.:
Come into the Kitchen, booklet,
about 1930
Below: Inside back cover. Maybe not by
chance, in addition to her liquid medicine Mrs. Pinkham sells chocolate-coated
pills in this cook (and hygiene) booklet. Chocolate
pops up again and again in the recipes and if you're hungry now you'll run
for the kitchen about page 16 - oh, wait, that's the
douche page. (Don't
douche.)
You'll find a clue to the booklet's date in
the last line, below. Combine that with the
cookie crumb on p. 15 and I date this to 1930.
I would bet women (and men) needed these elixirs in 1929, the year of the
great stock market crash.
See bottles of the Pinkham Compound.
