On page 4 we read the first
mention of a European doctor -
oops! docteur! Given that
the author of the Lanteen birth
control folder, English
physician Norman Carr, didn't
exist (according to Devices &
Desires), I wonder if the
several doctors pictured and
quoted in this booklet existed.
In 1932 it would have been tough
for the average woman to check
people's existence and credentials
(no Web, expensive phone calls
- and to whom?) especially
when they were in Europe, which
might have been the reason no
North Americans make claims for
Lysol in this booklet. See another
suspect, Austrian Dr. Helene
Stourzh.
