Finally, Kotex uses its trump card, medicine! As late as the 1950s it
printed a medical cross on its boxes, as did Modess.
In fairness, Kotex started out as a bandage in the First World War (See
the tour through MUM). But o.b., Tampax,
and many other companies have also used this shameless appeal to doctors,
with varying degrees of justification - but doctors invented them, too,
so there is justification. Women is hospitals used Kotex and Modess after
childbirth until recently to absorb postpartum secretions.
