Tampax menstrual tampon ad, U.K., May 1992

Tampax advertising, especially in Britain, has come a long way from the first ad of 1936 (maybe this one).

Nudity is nonexistent in American menstrual hygiene advertising. Heaven forbid that someone should link menstruation with a nude woman! European advertising has associated the two for decades.

See some humorous tampon ads from Britain. Again, the British display a better sense of humor about menstruation than the Americans and many other peoples.

This two-page ad - the strange breaks in the headline mark the edges of the pages, an artifact of the design process - is from May 1992.
