Very Personally
Yours (Kotex, Kimberly-Clark
Corporation)
puberty & menstruation booklet for
girls, 1981, U.S.A.
This booklet is part of a series
of Kotex puberty booklets (earlier
versions: 1948,
1961);
earlier series extended to the
1920s in America and elsewhere
(for example Marjorie
May's Twelfth Birthday and As One Girl To
Another). Kotex was not the
only company that made them (see
links to the left and above).
The booklets tended to become
more informal as the years passed,
probably reflecting their eras.
Look at the boom
box in the upper right
corner of the cover; according to
the Merriam-Webster online
dictionary the paired words
entered English the same year as
this booklet appeared, 1981.

Front cover (p. 1), which measures
6 x 8 1/2" (15.4 x 21.6 cm). The back cover (p. 24) is blank
except for the number 281 in the
lower left corner.
A bigger boom
box sits below this
cover.

If you look to the far right of
the girl's knuckles (right below
her mouth) you'll see this name, KELLEY,
on a line. I assume it's the artist.
I'm glad the company let her/him
get credit; this didn't happen
often with artists in publications
like this.
