Earle Cleveland Haas: It's
interesting that the inventor of Tampax,
Haas, and the
woman who first constructed a company around
it, Gertrude Tenderich, both have German origins -
at least Haas is a German name, which
derives from the word for rabbit. Some of my
German
relatives have that last name. But then the
second largest group of American last names
used to
be German (after those from the British
Isles).
