Kotex menstrual pad ad, U.S.A., April 29,
1920
Syracuse Herald newspaper
Other early newspaper ads
Notions are small useful items,
often in a drugstore or women's
department of a department store.
The term hardly ever if at all
applies to men. Do stores in
America still use the word?
Well, they did in 1920, which is
where women found Kotex. And they
found it at the very bottom of
this ad, which
might be one of the first for
this pad.
Right above the Kotex ad are ads
for sanitary
aprons and belts to
hold pads.
The price is less than it would
be in 1921
or 1922
or 1923.
It's possible that with increasing
demand the company raised its
price.
See the first
Kotex magazine ad (scroll down the
page a bit).
