The Kotex campaign of the 1920s asked that dealers put
boxes on the top of the counter, with a money box, so that women could
just pay and take, avoiding any discussion, especially with a male clerk.
Both in Germany and the United States in the
1920s, women could bring a printed slip of paper, supplied by the manufacturer,
to the store clerk. It asked the clerk to sell the presenter a box of menstrual
pads.
