Complete booklet
Below: Inside back cover. As in the pamphlet
Come into the Kitchen the company offered a
gift for information about its marketing, the
gift in that case a Hot Dish Mat. You see the
success of this marketing in "She goes to school

P. 1. Greek and Roman art and literature still
infused curricula in 1915 America, when many kids studied those languages
in school and college, and orators quoted Cicero and names unknown to most
Americans today. That's what the writer meant by "Celebrated paintings
and statues," classical themes that some then-contemporary artists
used.
But you'll find the motivation and practice in this booklet to be not far from what we believe today. The booklet
condemned fat and lazy people just as medicine
does today and maybe to the same effect.
The two-pronged attack on disease had a blunt
second prong, the very reason for the booklet, Mrs. Pinkham's patent medicine.
If you think doctors can't do much for certain afflictions today, like back
pain, remember that doctors couldn't relieve far more bedevilments almost
a hundred years ago, leaving the door wide for Mrs. Pinkham, Dr.
Pierce and a horde of others.
