Midol menstrual pain booklet
This is the beginning of the narrative in
the 1959 Midol booklet, "What Women Want to
Know."
I'm showing only a small part of the
booklet, which Tambrands gave to this
museum.
See the previous
page of the booklet. See the next page.

The red
hand at the far left - my
doing - points to what Midol
clearly thought an outmoded
technique for relieving
menstrual pain, to be
replaced by their pill. At least a
lady doesn't now need a
"gentleman" to help her. Maybe
they could have waited until they
got home?
Is that a huge menstrual
cup hanging from her
dress? I take back
any criticism I had for her!
You go, girl!
The drawing reminds me of what
might an urban legend, that
cartoonists at Disney studios
sometimes slip obscene frames into
animated films.
I suspect Midol regretted that
this booklet saw the light of day.
Did they write this booklet for
planet Earth?
Hey, you Midol folks seem a bit
edgy yourselves! PMS? Take an
aspirin and get some exercise!
