Kotex sanitary napkin ad, U.S.A., March 1921
This ad is enlarged from a 1942 ad for Kotex (here).
The nurse theme is repeated in the first
Kotex ad. It would be neat to see the letters the company claims as
the inspiration for Kotex. Kotex was lucky in having nurses "invent"
the disposable menstrual pads, as the public had great confidence in the
medical profession, its reputation having recovered from the low repute
of the 19th century.

The tiny print at lower left reads,
"If Kotex are not yet on sale in your neighborhood, write us for nearest
stores and shops that have them. Or send us sixty-five cents and we
will mail you one box of a dozen Kotex in plain wrapper, charges prepaid."
