Read my favorite
testimonial, below.
Priceless: "right smart
while," "down in bed,"
"sick time
[menstruation]," "sick
at each month," "I began
to doctor with a
doctor," "I surely
praise it to everyone."
The last four sentences
attest to the power
of alcohol,
although read strenuous
objections
to my view. I wonder if
taking a medicine
allowed these women to
drink alcohol when they
ordinarily would have
not been able to because
of religion (Baptist,
common in the rural
South) or custom.
