A discussion

their authenticity, of the Pinkham company

See two letters to MUM about

The reason I'm attentive to
the drawings is that among other
things I'm an artist.

Below:
P. 2. Eleanor
Campbell drew
the black & white
illustration on this
page as well as many
others in the booklet
(see the signatures I've
enlarged, below). As far
as I can tell from Web
research she illustrated
the famous "Dick
and Jane" reading
books for children, the
first artist to do so.
If so, she was sister to
another artist,
Elizabeth Warhanik, and
had artist parents. She
also created ads for Kellogg's
Corn Flakes
among other companies.
She lived from
1894-1986, which would
place this booklet in
her early career.

Below:
P. 3. I believe this
limner made many
drawings for this
booklet as well as others
although it's hard to be
sure by style.
I find it cruder
than the others in the
booklet.

Compare the "Dick and Jane" painting excerpt below with the
illustration
underneath it.

OK, now we're,
like, TOTALLY
into this
Campbell thing!
(I've always
wanted to say
"like,
TOTALLY.")
The top
signature
comes from the
drawing below,
the second
one
from the top
picture on p. 5.
I think the difference between the names shows that she made
the drawings at
different
times.
