Dale lubricated menstrual tampons
(1930s-1940s?, U.S.A.)
Instructions
(instructions in detail) and a test
The Procter & Gamble company kindly
donated these tampons to the museum, part
of a large gift.

Back of brochure. B-ettes
tampons also cost about 2 cents
apiece, in 1939, as did many
others in the 1930s and 1940s.

Below: the
"outside" of the brochure. Each
column formed a fold, and then was
divided in half, so that the whole
sheet wound up being one column
wide when completely closed, like
above. See both
sides close enough to read.

in detail.
Someone, probably
from Procter & Gamble, cut out
the following
strip (we see the two
sides) and put it into the box. I
don't know where the strip came
from, but the paper, column width,
type size and font match the
brochure, above. I performed a water test,
but skipped the ring test. I
wonder how many women had the time
to do this. "Mom, I gotta use the
bathroom! What are you doing in
there?" her kids scream.

From the 1950s to the
1970s women could buy another lubricated
tampon in the U.S.A., Pursettes.
