See an exhibit that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the SCA Mølnlycke company.
Tour the former museum in Harry Finley's house.
See an Italian washable pad, probably from the 1890s (and it looks much cooler than the ones above!) - See contemporary washable pads.

Some early history of the Scandinavian tampon
and menstrual pad company SCA Mølnlycke

This advertisement for SABA menstrual pads in Norway is probably from the 1950s or early 1960s.

Again, I thank Marethe Slensvik of the SCA Mølnlycke company in Norway for this advertisement, and for much material and information about the company's menstruation exhibit
in Norway!

My translation lies below the ad.

Words at top: "Do you save on your menstrual hygiene?" Wow, these Norwegian hairdressers are up-front!
Next large words: "She doesn't say anything, but . . . ."
The unreadable section below says that hairdressers must smile and make others feel good - but are THEY themselves always well-disposed, [the Norwegian is velstelte, and there must be a better translation. That great purveyor of Japanese literature, Donald Keene at Columbia University, wrote that a translator must know his own language better than the one he is translating from, and I'm stuck for the English!] especially in the critical days? [Yes, Norwegians say critical days too, at least Norwegian (and German) copywriters do. Do REAL people ever say that?] "Do they change their pads often enough?" Etc. It ends with "Change often enough - it costs so little to be safe!" The words next to SABA say "Be secure with SABA pads and belts." The tiny words at the lower right bottom say "It's cheapest to buy SABA 20"
NEXT: two more ads and a demonstration bus - the SABA assembly line - the first factory (and the beginning of this report)
